What accommodations do you offer for students staying on campus?

  •  The School does not offer accommodations for students for Fall-Winter-Spring classes
  • Please call the school at (802) 228-8770 to inquire about area lodging options.
  • There is no Dining Service offered on Campus during Fall-Winter-Spring.

The School offers comfortable accommodations (single and double rooms) with breakfast and lunch provided. PLEASE NOTE: Meals cannot be separated from the Room and Board package (sorry no exceptions).

Single Rooms: Twin bed, linens provided, each room has a wash basin and toilet facilities are shared between two rooms. Students are required to furnish their own towels, washcloth, etc.  Mens & Womens showers are hallway accessible.

Double Rooms: Twin beds, linens provided, shared bathroom and shower with the room on the other side. Students are required to furnish their own towels, washcloth, etc. We suggest that you also bring warm clothing, rain gear, seat cushion, flashlight, alarm clock, cell phone and phone cards. We would like to welcome back Ludlow Cooking Company to the Dining Hall.
They will be providing delicious and nutritious home cooked meals for all of us!

Room & Board Refund Policy
If you cancel 30 days or more prior to start of stay a full refund will be given. If you cancel 29-11 days prior to the start of stay a fee of $25.00 per day will be charged. If you cancel 10 days or less prior to start of stay there will be no refund.

We offer the use of microwaves, coffee makers and refrigerators if you would like to bring your lunch. There are many fabulous eateries in Ludlow and we have coupons available for some of the local establishments. Please inquire at the office during your class for the "Best Bites in Town".

Do you offer a meal plan for students not living on campus?

Day Students-Dining on Campus

We also would like to welcome back Ludlow Cooking Company to the Dining Hall. They will be providing delicious and nutritious home cooked meals for all of us! Breakfast Lunch and Dinner included with on Campus Lodging. PLEASE CALL FOR LODGING RESERVATIONS!


Dining on Campus

Day Students may purchase meal tickets in the School office before 4pm the previous day or are welcome to bring their own lunches. The outdoor Pavilion area and the Student Lounge are popular spots on campus for picnic lunches. Children enrolled in day programs can bring their own lunches and snacks or call the school to make arrangements for children's meals in the Dining Hall.

Refund Policy

Tuition Refund Policy

If the School is notified in writing at least 30 days prior to the start of the class, we will refund the tuition minus a 25% cancellation fee.  If notice is received between 29 and 20 days prior to the start of class, tuition will be refunded minus a 50% cancellation fee. If notice is received less than 20 days prior to the start of the class, no refunds will be made.

Tuition, less the registration fee, may be applied to another class at a later date. We cannot be responsible for non-refundable transportation or lodging costs.

Should the School find it necessary to cancel a class, we will notify students at least 10 days prior to the start of class. Tuition and registration fee (if applicable) will be refunded or can be applied to a future class.

While we sympathize when circumstances arise that prevent a student from attending, we must make commitments to our instructors; thus we must adhere to a reasonable business policy. We encourage all students to REGISTER EARLY! Class sizes average 8-10 students.

When should I arrive?

Arrival
All boarding students should plan to arrive some time after 3:00pm the day before their class is to begin. Orientation will be at 6:45pm in the Dining Hall the evening before their class is to begin.

Departure
Room check-out time is 9:00am on the day of departure. Class ends at 2:30pm on the day of departure (unless otherwise noted). Classrooms must be vacated by students at 3:00pm.

How do I get to the campus?

From points South: Take I-91 north to Vermont Exit 6, then VT 103 northwest, 23 miles to Ludlow. Fletcher Farm School is on the right,
 ½ mile past the the Pointe at Castle Hill which is also on your right.

From points East: Take I-89 to New Hampshire Exit 9 then NH 103 west to VT 131 west to VT 103 north, 2 miles to Ludlow. Fletcher Farm School is on the right ½ mile past The Pointe Hotel. From Boston, take MA 2 west to I-91 north, and follow directions from points South .

From points West: Take I-87 north to exit 20, go east on NY 149 to NY 4 north to VT 4 east to VT 7, south to VT 103 east/south, 16 miles to Ludlow. Fletcher Farm School is on your left, 2 miles past Okemo Mtn. Resort.  Or, take I-787 north to NY 7 east to VT 9 east into Bennington, VT, then VT 7 north to Exit 4. Then VT 11 east to Londonderry, to VT 100 north 17 miles to Ludlow. Turn right at Jiffy Mart onto Route 103, 1 ½ miles to Fletcher Farm School for the Arts and Crafts on your left.

From points North: Take VT 100 south or Route 103 south to Ludlow, continue through town 1½ miles. Fletcher Farm School is on your left.

By Bus: Vermont Transit Bus arrives in Rutland, arrangements can be made to pick up students and bring them to the School (there will be a charge for this service). For Fare information call Vermont Transit at (800) 552-8737.

By Plane: Connections from Boston's Logan International Airport (BOS) to Rutland, VT (RUT), just 26 miles to Fletcher Farm School, is operated by Cape Air http://www.flycapeair.com.

By Train: Amtrak offers service to Rutland, VT aboard the Ethan Allen Express. Call Amtrak at 1-800-USA-RAIL.

Car Rentals: Car rentals are available at the Rutland Airport and at many other locations in the greater Rutland area.

What is your acceptance policy?

Acceptance Policy
All students are welcome on campus regardless of race, sex, and religious affiliation, national or ethnic origin.

Students under 18 years old may enroll in classes other than the Young Artists' Programs (with permission of the Instructor and the School) but will pay the tuition listed for the class. Please call the school before registering to be sure that the instructor will allow young students in these classes.

Students lodging on Campus must be 18 years of age unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Pets on Campus:
Sorry, pets are not allowed on campus other than service animals (a boarding kennel and Doggie Day Care Center is located .8 miles from the school).

Smoking:
Smoking is prohibited inside any building by order of Vermont State Law.

How do I pay for my materials?

Most classes list a Materials Fee and in some cases a Lab Fee in addition to the tuition: for use of the instructor's tools & supplies or to help with energy costs on campus. The Materials Fee or Lab Fee is paid directly to the instructor during the class.

Do you have a Scholarship program?

Children and Adult Scholarship Programs:

The Society of Vermont Craftsmen, Inc. looks forward to having your child enrolled at Fletcher Farm School. A limited number of scholarships are available for Vermont children and Vermont Art teachers. If you are interested in applying, please call (802) 228-8770 or e:mail info@fletcherfarm.org for an application. Scholarships are issued by lottery and are not needs based. Deadline for submitting applications is May 1.

CLASS AND CAMPUS ORIENTATION

CLASS AND CAMPUS ORIENTATION

Please note there WILL BE ORIENTATION the night before all summer classes only. All boarding students should plan to arrive sometime after 3:00pm, the day before their class is to begin. Instructors and students will meet in the Dining Hall at 6:45pm to become acquainted with the staff and oriented to Fletcher Farm School. Day students are also expected to attend orientation sessions. Following this meeting, instructors will take their students to their classrooms for a brief course orientation and to get acquainted.  Some courses list Orientation as mandatory because classroom work and instruction will begin that evening. Course hours are listed in the course description. In addition to these hours, the classrooms will be open for additional studio time between 7pm and 9pm.  Room check out time is 9:00am on the day of departure. Class ends at 2:30pm on the day of departure. Classrooms must be vacated by 3:00pm. All information regarding school policies, student needs, meals, campus map etc. will be included with your registration confirmation.
